Fun Events at the Edison Home!
Just because summer is over, it doesn’t mean that the fun has to end! The Edison & Ford Winter Estates has weekly events to keep the whole family entertained.
This upcoming week, August 22, 2018 they will be hosting their “Ask the Curator” series. This event will focus on the question that many native and non-native Floridians often ask themselves… What is a Florida “Cracker”? Site Historian and Agricultural History Expert Jeff Dickey will have an in-depth discussion about the primary industry in SWFL during the 70s. These “Ask the Curator” events are free for members and included in admission ticket price for non-members.
Then on Thursday, August 23rd, 2018 an international Phonograph expert will be presenting at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates. John Kurdyla has traveled from Italy to give weekly discussions at the Edison Home about his extensive collection of phonographs. He owns one of the largest collections of Edison memorabilia and phonographs. Kurdyla is also the author of “When Music was Magic” which is for sale at the Edison Gift store. He will be presenting every Thursday at 11:30 AM at The Edison Home and at 4 PM at the Edison Forde Shoppe at The Bell Tower Shops.
Another great event held by The Edison Home are the Garden Talks. The upcoming Garden Talk will focus on Edible gardens! Learn everything you need to start growing your own gardens in your backyard. It is recommended that you wear a hat, comfortable shoes, sunscreen and bring water! The cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. You will also receive a 20% off coupon for the Garden Shoppe!
