Big Things Brewin’ in SWFL!

In recent years, breweries have become all the rage, and their popularity has even spread to SWFL! 

In Cape Coral alone we have three breweries, one of which has recently been named Best Brewpub in Florida!

Big Blue Brewery won this title at the 2018 Best Florida Beer Championships this past Sunday in Tampa. This competition boasted 815 different beers with 38 medal categories available. Cigar City — one of Florida’s biggest breweries — was part of the championship as well, but “little Big Blue with our five-barrel brew system representing Cape Coral.” According to Big Blue manager Joe Termini, the brewery was able to bring home one of those medals. Big Blue is located in Downtown Cape Coral, on the corner of 10th Pl & 47th Terr. 

Two other breweries in Cape Coral are Big Storm Brewing and Scotty’s Bierwerks. Big Storm Brewing took over what used to be Cape Coral Brewing, located on 830 Miramar St. They are originally based in Clearwater and have recently opened a taproom locally. 

Scotty’s Bierwerks is located at 901 East Industrial Circle and also won a medal for their famous Irish Red Ale, so hop on the craft beer trend and check these breweries out! Besides having great brews, they always have fun events and food trucks!  

The following breweries also won medals this past weekend: Point Ybel Brewing Co, Momentum Brewhouse, Palm City Brewing, Fat Point Brewing and Fort Myers Brewing Co.
