4 Must-Attend Holiday Events in SW Florida

December 19, 2019 Activities

Southwest Florida is unlikely to experience a white Christmas, but that doesn’t mean the Fort Myers, Sanibel, and Captiva communities aren’t in full holiday swing! Fortunately, we don’t have to brave the cold in order to enjoy the holiday fun. We’ve compiled four must-attend events the whole family will love with all the cheer and none of the snow!

1. Annual Holiday House at Burroughs Home and Gardens

The Fort Myers Woman’s Community Club brings holiday magic to the historic Burroughs Home and Gardens. The doorways, fireplaces, trees, and presents are perfectly decorated and placed throughout the family home. The gardens are full of tropical plants that are covered in twinkling Christmas lights. The neighboring Langford-Kingston House is part of the magic as well. Both homes can be toured with a guide who can explain more about the families who resided there in the 1900s.

2. Edison & Ford Winter Estates Holiday Tours

Overlooking the Caloosahatchee River, the Edison & Ford Winter Estates bring the holidays to life with sparkling, colorful lights and exquisite decorations. You can take a peek into the homes and see the marvelously decorated Christmas trees. The homes feature dining room tables filled with sweet treats along with wrapped toys and presents. As you walk the estates, listen to the provided live music and enjoy tasty food and drinks too. Santa is said to be stopping by in between special events, something you don’t want to miss! The Holiday Nights event will go on until December 30th daily from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm. If you visit before December 24th, you can grab your last-minute presents at the gift shop.

3. Holiday Express in Lakes Regional Park

Those who love train rides will grin from ear to ear when they hear about the Holiday Express in Lakes Regional Park. The train takes a tour through the park and passes holiday decorations and models for 15 minutes. Open from 10 am – 2 pm and 6 pm – 9 pm on weekdays as well as 10 am – 9 pm on weekends, this train ride is the perfect way to get anyone in the Christmas spirit–– even the grinches in your life! Children must be accompanied by an adult in order to ride.

4. Santa’s Dolphin & Wildlife Cruise

Happening only on Christmas Eve, Santa’s Dolphin and Wildlife Cruise is a perfect way to spend Christmas in Florida, an impeccable and special event. Try to spot as many dolphins as you can along with other wildlife like birds and fish. Maybe even throw in a Christmas carol or two to be sung!

When you come to Southwest Florida for the holidays, you can’t miss out on these events. From all of us at Vector & Ink, we hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
