D(r)unk City! Drink your way through SWFL breweries
It’s Friday! Time to start the weekend! If you are looking for something different to do this weekend, why not try and drink your way through the many SWFL breweries. If you didn’t already know, the new trend is craft beer and it’s been popping up everywhere around Southwest Florida. There are now approximately 10 breweries and distilleries in this area and each one is unique and offers tasty beers and liquors.
Wether you’re into Sours, Meades, Ciders, Ales, Lagers or Stouts, you’re sure to find your perfect craft beer at one of these SWFL breweries. Why not indulge your tastebuds and sip an ice cold one on a sunny Florida day! We’ve rounded up all of the breweries and distilleries in town to make it easier to enjoy. If you’re staying in Cape Coral there are 3 top notch spots to check out. Cape Coral Brewing brews full flavor beers, offers games and Sunday “Jam sessions”. Their most popular beers are the Bad Buoy IPA, the Burrowing Owl Brown Ale and Blind Date Wheat. To go along with those great beers Cape Coral Brewing Company also offers a small plates menu and welcomes you to order from local restaurants. On Fridays from 5-9:30 PM they have local food trucks offering food outside the brewery. With events happening all the time make sure to stay up to date on our Events page!
Another great Cape Coral brewery is No.3 Craft Beers and Brew Bar, located right on Cape Coral Pkwy right across the street from Nice Guys Pizza (another great spot offering craft beers!) and the cozy location and friendly staff will make you want to go back. At No.3 you don’t have to be a “beer snob” to fit in, the bartenders will help you pick a beer you’ll love just by describing the types of flavors you like! They sure do know their craft! As well as offering 10 different beers on tap daily, there’s a whole selection of six packs which you can buy to enjoy at home. No. 3 Craft Beers and Brew Bars also hosts an open mic night weekly as well as trivia night and food trucks!
So maybe you’re more into the heavy stuff… and by this we mean liquor! Take a break from beer and enjoy some locally made rum at Wicked Dolphin Rum Distillery. There you will find handcrafted rum made from Florida’s sugar canes. Currently Wicked Dolphin offers four flavors of rum, the Florida Silver which is barrel aged in previously used Bourbon barrels, the Florida Spice their specialty spiced rum, Coconut Rum and their famous Rumshine which is available in strawberry, blueberry and Apple pie flavors- made with real fruits!
Moving on to Fort Myers, we have quite a selection of breweries. Fort Myers Brewing Company always has great deals and events going on, today they will have 25 beers available on tap! To guarantee there’s something you will love! Aside from their huge selection if brews this Saturday they will Live Music and Food Truck Rally between noon and 11 PM. Make sure you don’t miss it!
For a heavy Rock-n-Roll feel and beers with deadly names like Hellhound, Creamnation and …From My Cold Dead Hands, Bury Me Brewing won’t let you down! They offer 12 beers on tap year-round with more coming soon! Their tasting room is open from Sunday thru Wednesday between 1 PM- 10 PM and Thursday thru Saturday between 12 PM- 12 AM. Old Soul Brewery is the brewery where everyone wants to hang out at! They host Brews N’ Clues every Tuesday at 8 PM and have local bands performing every month. It’s a definitely an experience! Located right before the beach on 16120 San Carlos Blvd #4, Fort Myers, FL 33908, Point Ybel Brewery is the last brewery in Fort Myers from all the SWFL breweries but its definitely not the least. They serve delicious beach themed craft beers in a relaxed tap-room and often times have live music, different monthly events and Open Mic nights. There brews encompass the many tropical flavors of Sanibel Island and Fort Myers like key limes, orange blossom honey, bird pepper and sea grapes. They are famous for their Black Mangrove American Dark Ale, Endless Summer Pale Ale, Sanibel Red Island Ale, Snook Bite IPA and Yay! Sanibel Saison. Point Ybel Brewery gives “New meaning to Island Hopping!”
Wether you’re located in Cape Coral or Fort Myers you can pretend to be a beer snob and taste the craft beers through all the above SWFL breweries!
