The Southwest Florida Symphony is offering meet-and-greet opportunities with Robert Van Winkle, their new community outreach ambassador, each Thursday during August, in an open house format from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the symphony’s rehearsal space at Bell Tower. Guests are invited to stop by any time to meet with Van Winkle and learn more about the symphony, the upcoming 2022-23 concert season and ways they can support the symphony and its mission to better the community through music. Attendees can participate in a short presentation, trivia and Q&A. All attendees will be entered in a weekly drawing for two free tickets to a concert of their choice during the upcoming season.
The Southwest Florida Symphony, Lee County’s only professional orchestra and the fourth oldest in the state, made its debut as a community orchestra on April 15, 1961, playing in schools and community centers, with a roster of only 24 volunteer musicians. Today, the symphony boasts a roster of 70 world-class musicians, and is preparing for their 62nd year led by newly appointed Music Director Maestro Radu Paponiu.
