A Day Exploring Downtown Fort Myers

Nestled in Fort Myers is a quaint downtown by the riverfront, full of shops, restaurants and much more to do. It’s the perfect place to walk around and enjoy a day with the whole fam as there is something to do for everyone. We have put together a full day itinerary for each person in your family that will ensure a day full of fun!

Adventurous Aunt

For the adventurous aunt that’s young and loves to explore. Start with breakfast at Bullig Coffee & Bites. They offer coffee, tea and a great breakfast/lunch menu. They are famous for their waffle sandwiches in which they offer vegan options as well. Then head over to Sol of Life: Salt Cave and Tibetan Tea Parlour. Here you can enjoy a man made cave that has over 16 Tons of pink Himalayan salt. Himalayan Salt is known to detoxify the body and mind. For an extra boost of relaxation, stop by Kava Culture Bar and end your day with a Kava drink, Elixir or Kombucha. The Kava drink is made from a root and served in a coconut shell. It is a natural muscle relaxer, that gives you a natural buzz without affecting cognitive or motor skills. While the elixir is made from a tea leaf and can provide feelings of happiness and euphoria.

Dedicated Dad

Downtown Fort Myers has something for everyone- yes even dad! Located right on First St. you will find Joe’s Record Exchange, they carry vinyl records, books and comics. After you have browsed til your heart’s content, just a quick walk down the street you will find the perfect spot for lunch (and a beer or two!) at The Lodge. The Lodge is a barbecue restaurant whose tagline is “Sports, brews and barbecues” pretty much most dad’s idea of a great time. Enjoy the “self-tap” beer wall and the 15 TVs throughout. Next, visit Millennial Brewing Co. the only brewery in downtown Fort Myers! They offer weekly events and food trucks for a late night snack. It’s always a good time!

Modern Mom

Moms always need a little R&R and that’s also possible Downtown Fort Myers. She can start by getting her hair done at BareRoots Salon. This salon and apothecary “hand selects products and companies that are low in toxicity, come from pure and organic sources” Their Apothecary “consists of 100% pure essential oils and hand crafted products that, not only feel and smell good on your skin and hair, but offer so many more therapeutic benefits.” Once you’re all pampered stop by Seed & Beach Market for a delicious latte, they also offer breakfast and lunch options like soups and salads if you’re hungry. But, if you’re looking to grab a quick sweet bit just a few storefronts down you will find Le Macaron French Pastries For some tasty, bite sized macarons of all sorts of flavors! They even make adorable gifts. Across the street on the corner of First St. and Broadway are the Franklin Shops. Here you will find up to 100 shops all in one location! Jewelry and fashion, local artists, homewares, accessories, beauty, and gifts galore. An “exciting retail experience in Downtown Fort Myers. Less predictable, more fun, and definitely a place for discoveries.” To finish off the day there’s no better way, than catching the sunset with a drink in hand from the Beacon Social Drinkery located on the top floor of the Luminary Hotel. Hands down the best view of the Caloosahatchee River and the sunset! They offer a full list of craft cocktails and appetizers as well.

Trendy Teen

For the trendy teen always looking for the next “Instagrammable” spot, Downtown Fort Myers has quite a few spots! First stop would be the Green Cup Cafe. Their outdoor courtyard is a great photo-friendly spot to enjoy one of their many organic meals and drinks. They offer  a variety of vegan options, such as raw juices, smoothies, coffee, tea, boba, açaí bowls, sandwiches, salads, wraps and desserts. Once a month they also offer yoga classes in that outdoor space. The inside decor is filled with pieces by local artists which are for sale. Down First St. You can find multiple murals. Some are behind the Courthouse others in the Library courtyard, others on the building located on Edwards Dr. See if you can find them all. Check out the Fort Myers Mural Society for more info. If boutique shopping is your thing then you have to check out Remedies Parlor. Browse through their unique Gifts, Home Furnishings (antiques & new), Apothecary, Jewelry, Garden. They often host events in their ethereal garden that is like no other Downtown Fort Myers. The inside AND outside decor is something else- a must visit! 

Knowledgeable Kids

The kids can have a great time as well, with many attractions that are fun and educational.The IMAG History & Science Center offers interactive exhibits, aquariums, history displays and even a 3D theater! Another great must-visit attraction is the Edison and Ford Winter Estates where you can see the great inventor Thomas Edison and his friend, automobile manufacturer Henry Ford’s vacation homes. Stroll through their amazing gardens and even get a peek at Edison’s famous laboratory! If your kids are into skateboarding then they will enjoy The House of Ride Nature. This is a surf, skate and coffee shop that even has a mini ramp in the backyard- if you’re ready to “drop in”!
